Sideshow: Another biennial bye-bye?

Posted: July 10, 2013

A tragedy of such global significance has befallen the planet that it will eclipse that silly stuff in Egypt: George Clooney has shed his paramour Stacy Keibler. (Yes, just like a cat.)

"Stacy called it quits. She wants to have children and a family someday. She knows where George stands on that," Unnamed Source tells People. "They quietly stopped being a couple several weeks ago." They met at an Oscar party in '06, when G told Stacy, a former WWE star, she had caught his eye. (Oh, la la!)

They didn't hook up until '11, shortly after G, 52, shed Italian TV host Elisabetta Canali, after two years. (Is G a two-year man?)

"I am the luckiest girl in the world," Stacy tweeted that July from Clooney's Lake Como villa. Not anymore. Or is she? TMZ says the couple are living together but experiencing turbulence, mostly because their schedules keep them apart for long periods.Classic rock just won't let Philly alone. The Rolling Stones tore through town like a twister on steroids, and now Pearl Jam has announced two Philly dates on their tour later this year. Eddie Vedder and pals will play the Wells Fargo Center Oct. 21-22; tickets on sale July 27. In other Pearl Jam news: According to Nielsen SoundScan, which has been counting only since 1991, Pearl Jam's 1991 CD, Ten, has joined the ranks of CDs selling more than 10 million U.S. copies. It's just the 22d album to do so. Who's sold the most? We take you back to that year again, 1991, when Metallica released, um, oh yeah, Metallica, which has sold 15.86 million.

Calm down

Do you meditate? Do you practice mindfulness? Hey - you awake? Seriously, meditation is suddenly cool. Huffington Post runs a fun list of the prominents and brilliants who do it regularly. Among them are Oprah Winfrey; Rupert Murdoch, chairman of News Corp.; the spectacularly named Padmasree Warrior, CTO of Cisco Systems; Russell Simmons; and, natch, Arianna Huffington. Must be something to it.

Jenny to 'The View'?

Us Weekly says

Jenny McCarthy is in solemn talks to be cohost of ABC's cash cow/warhorse The View. The show's in transition, with cohost Joy Behar soon to scram, and founder/host Barbara Walters on a victory lap that ends next year.  Another big name in the cohost hopper, according to Rumor (fast-flying goddess of the many-spangled helmet) is Brooke Shields.

Weird celebrity loves!

OK, we're not made of stone, we'll play along. Justin Bieber, a grizzled 19, and his once-upon-a-time gf, "SideShow" favorite Selena Gomez, 20, were s'posed to have broken up. Ah, but they dandle the world by a string, titivating, tantalizing, teasing. Latest is a Twitter pic of the two all colorized and cryptic. Could they be back together? That's what they want us to be asking, and we cannot not ask. . . . In similar teasing fashion, the busted-up duo of Katy Perry and John Mayer continues to resurge. Mayer says he still loves Katy, and he dedicated the last tune of his Milwaukee tour stop on Saturday, "A Face to Call Home," to his once, and perhaps future?, skweeziepie. Take that, Taylor Swift!

... Wiz Khalifa tweets that he and Amber Rose, who became parents in February, have quietly married. The actual wedding, however, comes in the fall - this was just the, um, marriage.

Health news

Country singer Randy Travis, 54, is in critical condition in Texas with viral cardiomyopathy, his rep announced Monday. . . . Comedian and movie star Chris Pratt went off beer for six months, and he's just posted a Twitter selfie of his ripped self. The husband of Anna Faris did it for a role in Guardians of the Galaxy. . . . Oh, yeah? Well, shut up, says comedian Lisa Lampanelli. Last year she had gastric sleeve surgery, and now is 106 pounds lighter.
