DeSean Jackson, a month after he severed his relationship with agent Drew Rosenhaus, signed with Joel Segal, who represents Eagles quarterback Michael Vick.

Jackson's publicist, Denise White, announced the signing on Twitter. Liz Mullen of Sports Business Journal was first with the report.

Jackson had entertained the idea of moving to rapper/entrepreneur Jay Z's Roc Nation Sports, according to sources close to the Eagles wide receiver. But he ultimately opted for a traditional agent, albeit one of the more powerful ones in the NFL.

Jackson is entering the second year of a five-year, $51 million contract that he signed in March 2012. He's slated to earn $9 million this season. Next year, his salary jumps to $10.25 million, but none of it is guaranteed.

Rosenhaus represented Jackson since November 2009 and negotiated his current contract. The two split in June. There were reports of acrimony because Jackson had yet to repay Rosenhaus for loans he gave the star receiver before his current deal.

Rosenhaus filed a grievance with the NFLPA, alleging that Jackson owed him more than $400,000.

The idea that Jackson would sign with Jay Z, who already has Jets quarterback Geno Smith as a client, seemed to make sense because of the receiver's interest in music. Jackson owns a hip-hop record label and recently released a rap video that features Snoop Dogg.

But, in the end, Jackson hired Segal.
