A Philadelphia man who advertised prostitutes on the website Backpage.com was convicted Friday of sex trafficking of a minor and producing child pornography, federal prosecutors said.
Enoch Smith, 36, operated his prostitution business in Philadelphia from 2009 to 2011. One of the prostitutes he recruited was a minor. Smith was arrested during a Philadelphia Police Department investigation of Backpage advertisements. Investigators found two sexually explicit images of the minor on Smith's laptop computer.
Smith faces a mandatory minimum 15 years in prison and a maximum of life imprisonment, prosecutors said. He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 31 in federal court in Philadelphia. - Robert Moran
