One dead, two injured in Montco crash

One man died and a mother and child were injured Tuesday in a two-vehicle accident, police said.

Lower Merion Township Police Superintendent Mike McGrath said the department received a call just before 10:30 a.m. about a crash at Spring Mill Road and Morris Avenue. A van southbound on Spring Mill was struck by a Toyota Prius driven by a woman who evidently failed to obey a stop sign, McGrath said.

The van driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car and a child in the backseat were taken by ambulance to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, McGrath said. Their conditions were unavailable.

Police still were trying Tuesday afternoon to identify the man who was killed, after finding no personal information at the scene. McGrath declined to give the names of the woman and child until family members had been contacted.
