Two dead in I-76 crash

Posted: August 12, 2013

Two people were killed in a head-on collision on the Schuylkill Expressway early Saturday, forcing an hours-long closure of all lanes of the highway.

The accident happened at 6:05 a.m. between the Belmont and Gladwyne Exits. A car going the wrong way in the westbound lanes struck an oncoming car, killing the drivers of both vehicles.

State police identified the driver of the wrong-way vehicle as Jamaal Moss, 35, of Richmond, Va. The blue Honda he was driving struck a car driven by Christan Trueblood, 25, of Upper Darby.

Trueblood was pronounced dead at the scene, and Moss died while being flown to a hospital, state police Cpl. Gerard McShea said.

Two other westbound vehicles struck the wreckage, but no one in those vehicles was injured.

It was not immediately determined where Moss entered the highway or why he was in the wrong lanes, McShea said. Toxicology tests were pending.

The eastbound lanes were reopened by 8 a.m., and the westbound lanes were cleared by 10:30 a.m.
