A police officer fatally shot an armed 19-year-old man during a confrontation Tuesday night in North Philadelphia, a department spokesman said.
Shortly after 7:30, a 22d District officer attempted to stop a 2001 Buick LeSabre in the area of 22d Street and Glenwood Avenue, said Lt. John Stanford.
The Buick struck another vehicle at the intersection, then crashed into a building at 2201 W. Glenwood, Stanford said.
A passenger got out and pointed a gun at the officer, who then opened fire, Stanford said. The man was shot multiple times in the torso.
