A participant in a fight in Camden that left one man injured returned with a handgun after the altercation, authorities said Tuesday, opening fire and killing a 31-year-old woman and wounding a man.

The shooting occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Monday on the 1400 block of South 10th Street, just north of the Liberty Park neighborhood.

Maylen Colon of Camden was killed, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. She is the city's 34th homicide victim of the year.

A 26-year-old man from the city, not named by authorities, was listed in critical but stable condition Tuesday at Cooper University Hospital after also being shot.

The fight had taken place in the same area, said Jason Laughlin, spokesman for the Prosecutor's Office. He declined to provide details on the nature of that fight.

A 23-year-old man from the city, also not named by authorities, was struck in the head by a blunt object in the fight, the Prosecutor's Office said.

Investigators are searching for the shooter, Laughlin said. He said no suspect had been identified.

The Citizens' Crime Commission is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the shooter.
