Hawks, Quakers, Owls post victories in Italy

SAINT JOSEPH'S closed out its 10-day trip to Italy with a 4-0 record after routing FISB Selection, 110-80, at the Palacanestro Nerviano.

Ronald Roberts had 20 points and freshman DeAndre Bembry scored 18. Redshirt freshman Javon Baumann tallied 10 points.

The Hawks led, 30-15, with 2 minutes left in the first quarter, as rising junior Papa Ndao scored all eight of his points.

"I'm going to congratulate them tonight about the way that they represented their families, first and foremost, and the school and the program," said coach Phil Martelli. "Everybody did their share and made it a special memory for all of us."

* In the second game of its trip to Italy, Penn rolled to a 94-59 victory over a team from the US Naval Base outside of Naples.

The Quakers got 17 points and nine rebounds from rising senior Fran Dougherty, and 14 points apiece from rising senior Miles Cartwright and rising sophomore Tony Hicks.

Penn improved to 2-0 on the trip and will play its final game in Italy today.

*  Temple used an 18-0 run to end the first quarter and never looked back in a 78-43 win over host Liomatic Perugia at the Pala Sport in Feligno, Italy.

Junior Anthony Lee led all scorers with 19 points, nine coming in the decisive run that pushed a 6-4 Temple deficit to a 22-6 advantage. Lee also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds and made two blocks.

This was the final game abroad for the Owls.
