The former softball coach at the Delaware County Christian School has been charged with sexual assault after she allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a player on the team.

Lana Trotter, 28, of Newtown Square, was released after posting 10 percent of her $50,000 bail, according to court officials.

The incident came to light when the teen's parents found a cellphone in the girl's room and saw inappropriate text messages between the Trotter and their daughter.

Trotter and the unidentified juvenile met in the spring of 2011 when the girl was 16 years old. At one point Trotter bought the teen a cellphone for the two to communicate after the player lost her cellphone privileges at home.

In the fall of 2012 the girls told Trotter she was "very uncomfortable with the sexual relationship," according to court documents.
