The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office has offered a $5,000 reward for information related to Sunday's fatal shooting of a Woodbury gas station attendant.
Officials say Surinder Singh, 40, was shot once in the chest about 9 p.m. at the Garden State Fuel station on North Broad Street, where he had worked for about 10 years. A native of India, Singh lived in Woodbury with his wife and two children and ran the station with his brother.
He was pronounced dead at Inspira Medical Center in Woodbury at 9:37 p.m.
Customers described him as affable and kind, sometimes allowing patrons strapped for cash to pay him later. Although the station was closed Monday, acquaintances and others shocked by his killing heaped flowers and mementos outside its glass-enclosed office.
