Archbishop Wood started its boys' soccer season on a historic note Tuesday.

The school's first victory of 2013, a 4-0 nonleague win at Cheltenham, was the 400th of coach Joe Krantz's career.

Despite waiting almost a full year, the coach took a patient approach to achieving the milestone.

"I figured with twenty-something games I would get it sooner or later," said Krantz, who just started his 35th season at Wood.

Someone hung a congratulatory banner that his players took after the game, and a Gatorade shower had to be prevented because of the bus ride back to school.

"I still enjoy it," Krantz said. "I've had pretty much the same assistants. The competition is good in the [Catholic League]. We like to beat their brains in, but we're friends off the field.

"I never thought I'd be here for 400 wins."

Kyle Joyce and Nick Sonsini each had a goal and an assist in the win, and Ryan Hemsley made four saves to earn the shutout.

In other nonleague play:

Evan Wilson capped a hat trick with an overtime header to lead Springside Chestnut Hill to a 3-2 win against Strath Haven.

Father Judge's Abrahem Krama scored late in regulation to force overtime before ending a 2-1 win in the extra session with a tap-in goal.

La Salle's Matt Lucas found Tyler Colasanto cutting through George School's defense, setting him up for the goal in a 1-0 win.

Haverford School's Connor Gregory scored twice in the second half of a 2-0 win against Conestoga.

George Lambritsios and Antonio Madell each scored in the first half, and Marple Newtown held on for a 2-1 win against Cardinal O'Hara.

Downingtown West's Cameron Young avoided defenders before slipping home the winning goal with 10 minutes left in a 2-1 triumph against West Chester Rustin.

Ethan Aigeldinger and Cayce Giblin each scored in Pennridge's 2-0 success against Haverford High.

Central Bucks South's Danny Busichio and Danny Remick each scored a pair of goals in a 5-2 win against Abington.

Lower Merion beat Bonner-Prendergast, 2-0, behind goals by Adam Holtz and Francisco Palma.

Faith Christian's Sam Bloxam scored twice, including a go-ahead goal on a penalty kick, in a 3-1 win over Lansdale Catholic.

Jake Miller deposited Patrick Murphy's long free kick to give Great Valley the lead in the second half and pave the way to a 2-0 win vs. West Chester Henderson.

West Chester East's Jack Keenan posted three goals and an assist in a 6-2 win against Octorara.

Unionville's James Crowley and Evan Dwyer scored in a 2-0 win against Avon Grove.
