Sideshow: LeBron James gets a (wedding) ring

Lord of the Rings

NBA superstar LeBron James, 27, wed his high school sweetheart (and mother of his two children), Savannah Brinson, over the weekend. The very private ceremony - no cellphones! - was held at the ritzy Grand Del Mar Hotel in San Diego.

James, a four-time MVP of the league, lead his team, the Miami Heat, to its second consecutive league championship in June.

Now he's added another ring.

That wasn't the only longtime couple to make it official over the weekend. John Legend and Chrissy Teigen tied the knot Saturday in Lake Como, Italy. The singer and the model have been together since 2007.

Among the attendees at the small ceremony were Kanye West and Brooklyn Decker, who served as the maid of honor.

At the movies . . .

The top movie at the box office was Insidious 2, the horror film with Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne, which took in $41 million in its opening weekend. OK, not as much as Floyd Mayweather but impressive, nonetheless.

It was a steep dropoff to second place, where The Family, with Robert DeNiro and Michelle Pfeiffer, launched with $13.9 million.

Vin Diesel's Riddick was down sharply, earning $6.5 million for third place.

Rounding out the top five were Lee Daniels' The Butler – starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey – and We're the Millers, a comedy with Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis, which brought in $5.5 million and $5.4 million, respectively.
