Phil's Picks: Saturday games

Posted: October 06, 2013

Here's a closer look at three football games Saturday:

Camden Catholic (1-2) at Woodrow Wilson (1-1), noon. The visiting Irish won a tough game at Moorestown last weekend and have a chance to get to .500 at their bye. After that, they should have injured sophomore running back Benny Walls (ankle) back in the lineup.

The Tigers have a potent passing combination in senior quarterback Tymir Walker and senior wide receiver Dae'shon Davis.

Pick: Camden Catholic, 19-13.

No. 25 Washington Township (2-1) at Pennsauken (1-2), 2. The Minutemen have won two in a row behind senior all-purpose player Andrew O'Neill, who leads South Jersey with 10 touchdowns.

Pennsauken has a top sophomore in running back Marquan Jones.

Pick: Washington Township, 30-18.

No. 3 Eastern (3-0) at No. 9 Rancocas Valley (2-0), 3:30. This West Jersey interdivision clash has major South Jersey Group 5 playoff implications and could develop into a shootout featuring Vikings senior quarterback Tom Flacco and RV junior quarterback Jordan Sadusky.

The Vikings have been getting senior running back T.J. Gardner into space to generate yards as a runner, receiver, and returner.

Pick: Eastern, 32-27.
