MEET JYLIL REEDER.

He is Mr. Everything for the Samuel Fels Panthers, and he wouldn't have it any other way. Reeder is the starting slot receiver, free safety and return man for Fels, while also being the team's Wildcat QB and change-of-pace back.

After six games, he has 43 rushes for 238 yards and three touchdowns; 27 receptions for 587 yards and eight TDs; 44 yards passing on eight completions; one kickoff return for a TD; and three interceptions. How does a 17-year-old handle all this responsibility?

"I try to help my team in every way I can by being in the best position to make plays, score and win," said Reeder, who lives in North Philadelphia around 11th and Cumberland, but grew up in West Oak Lane, with time in the Lower Northeast.

"I wanted to go to King, but my mom [Cheri Reeder] didn't want me to go there, because all my friends were there," he said. "Now looking back, I'm so glad I came to Fels. I love the school. Love my team. It's been the best place for me."

The 5-9 175-pound senior hasn't run a 40-yard dash since his sophomore year, but figures he is somewhere around 4.4. He has yet to be seriously recruited by a college. And, get this, he played no youth football before attending high school. Now he's established himself as one of the city's best.
