Nutter rappels for a cause again

THERE'S NOTHING like a school-funding crisis to bring a second-term mayor back down to Earth.

That, and jumping off the top of a 30-story building.

For the second year in a row, Mayor Nutter rappelled down a Center City skyscraper yesterday to raise money for Outward Bound, which connects youth with the outdoors.

Nutter said he got some surprised looks from people working in the One Logan Square building.

"Some of the folks knew we were coming, but some definitely did not expect to see some guy in their window," Nutter said, laughing.

Outward Bound describes itself as "world's oldest and largest adventure-based education program."

Participants raised $2,000 each to rappel. Organizers hoped to bring in $250,000 through the event. Last year, they raised $170,000.
