S. Jersey Boys: Buena beats Middle Township, 1-0

For the second time in three days, Middle Township's boys' soccer team failed to score a goal in regulation. This time, though, it cost the Panthers their first loss of the season.

Buena's Max Shevchenko buried a rebound in the 77th minute to lift the host Chiefs to a 1-0 win over Middle Township on Monday afternoon in a Cape-Atlantic League game. The goal came after Tanner Kerr saved a free kick attempt.

Kerr finished with 11 saves and Buena keeper Jake Bleyhl stopped 18 to earn the shutout.

The Panthers pulled out a victory over Cherokee on Saturday in the South Jersey Coaches Tournament. Middle Township advanced on penalty kicks after the teams to a 0-0 draw through two overtimes.

In other league action:

Mainland's Billy Talerico made 13 saves to record a shutout as the Mustangs won, 2-0, at Hammonton.

Fabian Burgos and Ron Garofolo scored for Mainland.

Olympic. Dominic D'Agostino's overtime goal moved host Eastern past Cherry Hill East, 2-1.

Steve Scian's winning goal with two minutes remaining was his second of the half as Cherokee clipped visiting Shawnee, 3-2.

Cherry Hill West featured six goal scorers as the host Lions blanked Winslow Township, 6-0.

Matt Perkins' strike in the 64th minute led Seneca to a 1-0 win at Bishop Eustace.

Colonial. Haddon Heights raced past visiting Paulsboro, 8-0, thanks to a standout game from Jesse Weick.

Weick netted a hat trick and added two assists to lead all scorers. Yanny Pfeifer chipped in with his first varsity goal. Dan Pender earned the shutout with six saves.

Kyle Wade scored twice as host Haddon Township eased past West Deptford, 5-2.

Dan Coyle's second half goal lifted Collingswood to a 1-0 win at Gateway.

Tommy Sheehan found the net as host Sterling moved past Woodbury, 3-0. John Gorczynski and Emre Kasik added goals for Silver Knights.

Burlington County. Cinnaminson's Andrew DeBellis and Pat McCarthy scored to lead the host Pirates over New Egypt, 2-1.

Nonleague. Treven Still's goal proved enough as Paul VI turned back visiting Delsea, 1-0.

Jack Stewart assisted on the score and Mike Bizzoco was strong in net with 10 saves.

Gui DeCarvalho's two goals paced Westampton Tech in a 3-1 win at Maple Shade.

Medford Tech and St. Joseph played to a 1-1 draw. Jacob Powell made 18 stops for the host Jaguars.
