Nova's Ennis suffers hand injury

Villanova guard Dylan Ennis, who had been eager to return to basketball competition after sitting out the 2012-13 season as a transfer, has seen that comeback delayed further because of a fracture of the third metacarpal bone in his right hand suffered during Thursday's practice.

Ennis' injury, which affects his shooting hand, will be reevaluated in four weeks, Villanova coach Jay Wright said Friday in a statement.

"We're disappointed for Dylan because we know how excited he was about being out there with his teammates," Wright said. "But we know that Dylan will work hard during this time so that he is ready to help us as soon as his injury has healed."

The 6-foot-2 Ennis, a native of Brampton, Ontario, who attended high school at Lake Forest (Ill.) Academy, transferred from Rice after a freshman season that saw him average 8.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists.

The loss of Ennis means that Villanova will play at least the November portion of its schedule with only nine scholarship players.
