Ex-soccer player's head found on front steps by wife

HALLOWEEN is the perfect time for bizarre, scary stories. And what happened in Brazil recently certainly qualifies.

On Tuesday, the wife of former professional soccer player Joao Rodrigo Silva Santos found her husband's severed head in a bag on the front steps of their Rio de Janeiro home.

According to reports, his eyes and tongue had been cut out.

The 35-year-old Santos played for professional teams in Brazil, Switzerland and Honduras.

No arrests have been made but police believe Santos was kidnapped outside his health food store and murdered by a drug gang that may have wanted to send a message to his wife.

Geisa Silva is reportedly a military policewoman who works to rid the city's shanty towns of gang control.

Police are still searching for whoever killed Santos. And for the rest of his body.

A real treat

We know what Indiana Pacers star Paul George is giving out for Halloween - tickets to a Fresno State basketball game.

According to the Fresno Business Journal, George purchased every available ticket to his alma mater's Nov. 16 game against Cal State Northridge and is giving them away free. The game will be played at the 15,596-seat Save Mart Center.

It was, the report said, George's way of giving back to the university.

To get a ticket, fans must visit a website and print out a voucher. The giveaway doesn't affect season ticketholders, who will keep their seats.

George can afford to be generous. Last month, he signed a 5-year extension that guarantees him between $80 million and $90 million.

Historic date in NBA
