Pa. Boys: Sat. Pa. boys: Holy Ghost extends shutout streak with quarterfinal win

Matt Lingerman recorded three saves Saturday afternoon and Holy Ghost Prep blanked Moravian, 3-0, in a PIAA Class AA state boys' soccer quarterfinal at Exeter Township.

It was Holy Ghost's seventh straight shutout.

Mike Kirby had two assists, including a first-half corner kick that was headed in by Pierce Skelly. Joe Braun, who scored in the second half, assisted Adam Snyder's goal three minutes after Skelly's tally.

PIAA Class AAA State Quarterfinals

Brandon Garcia scored in the first half, but West Chester Rustin could not hold on as it lost to Conestoga Valley, 3-1, at Exeter Township. The goal, assisted by Jay Ringer, tied the score.

Cumberland Valley 1, Downingtown West 0 - Jesse Zimmerman scored in overtime to end the Whippets' season.

Independent Schools

Host Episcopal Academy scored just six minutes into the game and held on to top visiting Kiski Prep, 2-0, in the first round of the Pennsylvania Independent Schools tournament.

Anthony Liddy found senior Evan Wilson for the goal from 6 yards out. Christian Williams, a junior, added insurance in the second half. Sam McDowell recorded four saves for his ninth shutout.

Shipley 2, George School 1 - Max Olsan and Nico Rubino scored, and the host Gators advanced.

Mid-Atlantic Prep

Mark Forrest scored twice to lead Hill School to its third straight league title with a 4-0 win over visiting Lawrenceville.

The Blues have been undefeated in league play for three straight seasons. Colten Habecker and Julio Quijano added goals.
