St. Joe's signs big man from West Virginia

Posted: November 13, 2013

St. Joseph's received its third oral basketball commitment when 6-foot-10, 228-pound senior Obi Romeo of Greenbriar East High in West Virginia chose the Hawks.

Originally from Nigeria, Romeo has been in the country for about three years. His adoptive father, Rick Romeo, said that St. Joseph's was the first school to contact him.

Rick Romeo said that Florida Gulf Coast, East Tennessee State, Georgia Southern and Longwood were among the others that were in the picture.

Romeo joins two high school players from North Carolina as Hawks recruits: 6-7 power forward Markell Lodge and 6-6 wing player James Demery.

High school basketball recruits can begin signing letters of intent on Wednesday.
