Demi goes for respectability

It's time we respected youngster Demi Lovato, 21, as a serious artist and a woman of conscience. "I think no matter what way you say it, you're gonna be in the public eye and people are gonna look up to you. I just decided that I turned 21, I gotta be an adult, I've gotta act like one and here I am," Demi tells Hollyscoop.

And she tells Entertainment Weekly she's tired of singers who write songs just for their shock value. "You're more respected as an artist" if you stay away from that material, she says. "And that's what I want to be, I want to be respected as an artist and not a tabllinkoid headline."

Hugh Jackman on cancer

It started as a little mark on his proboscis and a suggestion from his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, that he have a doctor look at it. Hugh Jackman, 45, is glad he did: Turns out he had skin cancer. He was treated and is fine now. The Wolverine hero posted an Instagram pic of his bandaged nose this week with the message, "Please don't be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!"

Amy Robach's cancer news

ABC News' Amy Robach was criticized by some when she decided to treat her breast cancer aggressively by having a bilateral mastectomy. She's glad she did: The surgery revealed she had a second malignancy that hadn't been detected. "I will have more treatments ahead of me, but none that will take me out of work," Robach said Friday.
