Nick Foles laughed when asked about his plans for the next 1,000 years, which is how long Eagles coach Chip Kelly said he would be the team's starting quarterback.

"Just one day at a time. Knew that was coming," Foles said Tuesday. "Just thankful to be here, thankful to be playing, thankful to be healthy."

Kelly made the comment Monday when he was asked about Foles becoming the team's franchise quarterback. Kelly did not want to get into the semantics of a "franchise quarterback," although that's the next big question about Foles' career. Foles already has been named the starter this season; he needs to show he can be the starter beyond 2013.

Foles was asked what it will take to be the franchise quarterback. "Winning. You've got to be smart, you've got to make plays, you've got to make big throws in clutch situations," he said. "The big thing with a franchise QB . . . is your teammates need to believe in you. On and off the field. What do you do? Who are you?"

Foles has earned the respect of his teammates and is known to have a strong work ethic. His production has placed him among the top quarterbacks this season. How he performs in the final four games will offer a more substantive answer to the team's quarterback-of-the-future questions.

Injury update

Safety Earl Wolff is still not practicing because of a knee injury. He said that the "best-case scenario" for his return is the Dec. 15 game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Linebacker Najee Goode missed practice with a hamstring injury that caused an early exit Sunday.

Wide receiver Jeff Maehl also left the game with a head injury, and he was absent from Tuesday's practice, which is standard for a player recovering from a concussion.
