Montreal Canadiens forward Danny Briere returned to the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday for the first time since the Flyers bought out the final two years of his contract after last season.

"It was a little weird walking in this morning, taking the visitors entrance instead of what I had been used to the last six years," Briere said.

Briere saluted Flyers fans.

"All I can say is thank you for all the good memories. It was a great ride," he said. "This place is special to me and is going to stay my home."

At a stoppage in play with 12 minutes, 49 seconds left in the first period, the Flyers played a video tribute to Briere, who received a warm ovation.

VandeVelde joins Flyers

Center Chris Vande-

Velde signed a one-year contract with the Flyers. To make room for him, the Flyers loaned left winger Tye McGinn to their AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound VandeVelde appeared in 23 Phantoms games, recording seven goals and six assists.

VandeVelde saw immediate action, centering a line with Zac Rinaldo and Adam Hall early in the first period.

Ticket suit settled

A class-action suit filed by season-ticket holders over 2012 Winter Classic tickets against Comcast-Spectacor (the parent company of the Flyers) and NHL Enterprises has been settled.

The suit claimed that the season-ticket holders were misled by the exclusion of the Winter Classic Game against the New York Rangers at Citizens Bank Park. The Winter Classic tickets were sold separately at a higher price.

Depending on the season-ticket package they purchased, the ticket holders will receive vouchers worth $45 or $75 per package as part of the settlement.

Frozen Four tickets

Tickets will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. for the 2014 Frozen Four, which will be played April 10 and 12 at the Wells Fargo Center. This will be the first time that college hockey's semifinals and finals will be played in Philadelphia.
