The basketball season is only a week old, but it would be difficult to put together a better resumé during that time than that of Imhotep Charter.

Behind 17 points from Sean Lloyd, the Panthers downed their second top-10 team, beating visiting Roman Catholic, 61-55, in a nonleague game Friday night.

The Panthers are ranked third in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer. Roman is ranked fourth, and Imhotep previously topped No. 8 Lower Merion.

Jakwan Jones scored 13 points and had seven rebounds, four steals, and five assists. Daron Russell added 13 points. Lloyd also grabbed eight rebounds.

TreVaughn Wilkerson led Roman Catholic with 9 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 blocks.

PUBLIC LEAGUE A

Martin Luther King 65, Math, Civics and Sciences 62: Sammy Foreman scored 23 points, Jamir Taylor had 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Rasool Samir added 10 points as the host Cougars overcame a seven-point deficit in the third quarter against the No. 5 Mighty Elephants.

SUBURBAN ONE NATIONAL

William Tennent 57, Council Rock North 49: Matt Alden's 27 points helped host Tennent hold on. Council Rock North was down by 16 entering the third quarter, but cut it to four with a minute left. Josh McWilliams led North with 19.

Abington 52, Council Rock South 41: Jordan Neely's all-around game helped lift the visiting Ghosts. Neely had eight assists, seven steals, and zero turnovers to go along with his six points. Lazaros Mackrides scored 15.

Pennsbury 67, Bensalem 38: Mekhi Bryant scored 15, Nigel Johnson had 11, and Cameron Jones added 10 for the host, 10th-ranked Falcons.

SUBURBAN ONE CONTINENTAL

Plymouth Whitemarsh 62, Upper Moreland 39: Andre Mitchell's six steals keyed a defensive effort by the host Colonials that forced 25 turnovers. Jimmy Murray led the Colonials with 18 points. Brett Paul and Manuel Herezi each scored 11, and Mitchell had 10.

Central Bucks West 55, Quakertown 43: Kyle Salvitti's 15 points topped a balanced effort for the host Bucks. Cal Reichwein and Kyle Schechter each added 10.

North Penn 74, Souderton 63: Noah Melthior scored 14, James Edwards had 13, and Joe Richards added 12 as the host Knights cruised.

CENTRAL LEAGUE

Lower Merion 61, Strath Haven 41: JaQuan Johnson scored eight of his 16 points in the first quarter, and the visiting No. 8 Aces cruised to their first win. Justin McFadden and Korey Sherman each added 12.

Ridley 57, Conestoga 53: Brett Foster scored 16, and Ameer Staggs chipped in with 15, and the visiting Green Raiders used a 24-12 advantage in the fourth quarter to rally for the win.

FRIENDS SCHOOLS

Shipley 53, Germantown Friends 50, OT: The late-game efforts of Kaion Hardy and Shawn Harvey lifted the hosts. Harvey hit an 18-footer to tie it with 25 seconds left in regulation, and Hardy's three-point play with 28 seconds left in overtime gave Shipley the lead. Hardy sealed it with a rebound of a missed three.

Abington Friends 70, Friends Select 39: The visiting Kangaroos received 22 points from Jordan Greene and 19 from Joe Robinson.

BICENTENNIAL CONSTITUTION

Phil-Mont Christian 68, Faith Christian 44: Zach Dolton scored 20 points for the hosts, including his 1,000th career point with 1 minute, 30 seconds left in the second quarter. "He's our leader on the court. He's able to score, but also include others in the game," said his coach and father, Glenn Dolton. Joshua Byrd also scored 20 points.

BICENTENNIAL INDEPENDENCE

Holy Ghost Prep 52, Lower Moreland 43: The host Firebirds scored 14 of their 27 points in the fourth from the foul line. Mike Kirby scored 16 points. Danny Duffy scored 12 of his 17 for Lower Moreland in the fourth.

GLEN MILLS TIP-OFF

Glen Mills 50, Franklin Learning Center 35: Nathaniel Searight had 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots to lead the Bulls. Anthony Burgos added 13 points.

PIONEER ATHLETIC

Methacton 59, Owen J. Roberts 31: Sean Mann scored 19 points, and the host Warriors rode a 22-3 third quarter.

NONLEAGUE

Archbishop Ryan 55, Washington 51: Austin Slawter hit three three-pointers in the fourth quarter, and the host Raiders held off Washington. Slawter finished with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Austin Chabot also had 16 points, and Brendan Horan added 13.

La Salle 54, Esperanza 47: Senior center Jake Herdsman scored 20 points and had nine rebounds as the Explorers opened their remodeled gym.

Conwell-Egan 57, Bartram 54: Jordan Burney's layup with a minute left gave the host Eagles the lead for good. Bruney had 14 points. LaPri Price led with 16. Stevie Jordan had six assists and eight points.
