Raffl suffered a concussion when hit into the boards by Colorado's Gabriel Landeskog on Thursday. He said he felt "knocked out," but that he has not had any headaches the last two days. "It's like when a boxer gets knocked out, I think. . . . I felt a little bit dizzy."
Steve Downie replaced Raffl on the top line Saturday, while Zac Rinaldo moved from the fourth line to Read's spot on the third line.
Berube said Rinaldo - who entered the night with one assist in 41 games and a minus-13 rating - has been making strides.
"He's good without the puck, he skates hard, he's physical, and he's been staying out of the penalty box," Berube said before the game, adding he wants Rinaldo to "get more shots to the net and get to the net, get some greasy goals."
Chris VandeVelde and Jay Rosehill were both in Saturday's lineup, which looked like this:
Claude Giroux centered Jake Voracek and Downie.
Brayden Schenn centered Scott Hartnell and Wayne Simmonds.
Sean Couturier centered Rinaldo and Vinny Lecavalier.
VandeVelde centered Rosehill and Adam Hall.
