Pa. Boys: Wed. Pa. wrestling: Northeast, Central triumph

Wednesday afternoon's Public League matches proved to be an easy task for Central and Northeast, as the stalwarts begin preparations for Friday's rematch of last season's league final.

Jonathan Guevera opened Central's 63-6 win over visiting Frankford with a 5-4 decision at 113 pounds. Jumaane Howard added a 3-1 decision at 160.

Kemran Fayikov pulled out a 1-0 decision at 220 pounds to highlight host Northeast's 49-19 win over Washington. David Rodriguez (138 pounds) and Hakim Coles (170) won by fall.

Central edged Northeast in last season's final, 31-28.

Suburban One. Riley Palmer earned a major decision at 106 pounds, and Council Rock South captured seven straight weight classes to knock off host Pennsbury, 56-9.

Joey Berkhauzer added a pin at 120.

Pioneer. Garrett Mauger's first-period pin at 120 pounds helped Boyertown turn away visiting Upper Perkiomen, 67-6.

Friends Schools. Aidan Plunkett earned a 3-0 decision at 182 pounds and Ben Helpin won by forfeit at 113 to seal Friends' Central's 34-31 win at Academy of the New Church.

Nonleague. Frank Satriale (126 pounds) and Jeffrey Klenk (132) opened the bout with back-to-back pins, and Malvern Prep rolled the rest of the way past host Academy of the New Church, 66-3.

Boys' Basketball

Chase Wilson hit two baskets in the final 90 seconds to clinch Wissahickon's 42-39 nonleague win over Central Bucks East.

The senior guard hit a three-pointer with 1 minute, 24 seconds left to put the Trojans ahead by one. He then sank a layup with 30 seconds left to increase the lead to three. Wilson finished with a game-high 16 points.

In other nonleague action, Darrell Bryant hit three late field goals to lead Academy of the New Church over visiting Hun School, 39-36.

Catholic. Luke Connaghan grabbed 10 rebounds and poured in 19 points as Archbishop Wood eased past visiting Bishop McDevitt, 89-72. Joe LoStracco added eight rebounds with 19 points, and Matt Funk dished out six assists.

Suburban One. Curt Lever scored 14 points and Chris Evans chipped in 12 to pace Norristown past host Springfield (Montco), 75-34.

Bicentennial. Aondofa Anyam's 26 points led Church Farm at Bristol, 63-51.
