A few minutes before 7 on Wednesday night, Vickson Krah lay flat on his stomach in Fox Gym. His head was at the center of a circle made by the Father Judge wrestlers splayed out on the mat around him.

Krah's voice filled the room. "It's over!" he yelled, pounding the mat. "Over!"

About an hour and a half later, the Crusaders had made his words into deeds. Father Judge beat La Salle, 38-27, to snap the five-time Catholic League champion's 50-match league winning streak.

Judge had fallen to La Salle in the last two Catholic League finals. Krah lost his match both times, and he'd had enough.

"I just told them: It's been years coming," Krah said. "This is our home mat. This is our time. Let's do it. There are no more chances."

Krah, a 160-pound senior, wrestled second-to-last. The match was tied at 27.

Krah earned a technical fall to put the Crusaders ahead, 32-27. Nick Reidy clinched the victory by pinning Kyle Landis in the final bout, at 170.

Reidy ran off the mat and leaped into the arms of Joe Galasso, the defending state champ at 138 pounds. Galasso missed the match with an injury, but is expected back by the weekend.

"This is a big dual meet. This program has never done anything like this before," Judge coach Jim Savage said. "But in the big scheme of things, the old cliché, they don't give out championships in the beginning of January."

With Galasso out, several Crusaders wrestled up a weight class. That included senior Kyle Palinkas, who ground out a 5-2 decision over Santino Pelusi at 195 in one of the night's expected toss-up bouts.

La Salle, which was also missing a key wrestler in Patrick McGinley, led just once. The Explorers took a 24-21 advantage when Judge forfeited to Greg Konieczny at 138.

David White answered with a pin of Luke Ratchford at 145, and the Crusaders never trailed again.

"It's been building up for four years," Palinkas said. "We finally ended that streak, and now it's the blue singlet people are afraid of - the baby blue."
