William & Mary shoots past Drexel

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Marcus Thornton led William and Mary with 18 points Wednesday night as the Tribe beat Drexel, 85-73, in the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams at Kaplan Arena.

William and Mary (9-5) shot 60 percent, and 8 for 13 from three-point range, in the first half. The Tribe led by 46-30 at halftime.

Drexel (8-6) cut the lead to seven points twice in the final three minutes. Frantz Massenat led the Dragons with 19 points. Tavon Allen and Chris Fouch scored 18 apiece.

Starting Dragons forward Kazembe Abif missed the game with an injury. Starting forward Dartaye Ruffin injured his right leg midway through the first half and did not return.

William and Mary's bench scored 34 points.
