Frankie Krauss' opponent could only pound the mat in frustration.

Krauss, a 160-pound wrestler for Spring-Ford, had just scored two late points to pull out a decision Wednesday in the third bout of the night.

It was still early, but it turned out to be the moment the dam burst.

After dropping the first match, Spring-Ford won the next seven weight classes en route to a 37-16 victory at Owen J. Roberts in a Pioneer Athletic Conference match.

That's the kind of roll the Rams (10-0, 5-0) have been on all season. They won their first four league dual meets by an average score of 52-15.

Wednesday's win was their first victory over Owen J. Roberts in a league match since 2008.

Krauss earned a takedown with 13 seconds remaining to pull out a 5-4 win over Jimmy Frantantoni to give Spring-Ford its first lead, 6-3.

"This was one that we had circled on our calendar. We wanted to beat this team," Krauss said. "I think that win put us in a good position."

A major decision by Taylor Westlake (170) followed, and Danny Krieble pinned Nick Duliakas at 182. Mason Romano (220) got a technical fall, and the rout was on.

"We have a good nucleus of kids that have wrestled together for a long time," Spring-Ford coach Tim Seislove said. "We had 20 wins last year, and we only lost two seniors, so we thought if we had things fall into place, we could have a good year."

The Wildcats (4-5, 2-2) had won 36 consecutive conference matchups spanning parts of five seasons before losing to Boyertown, 45-16, last week. They hadn't suffered a league defeat before that since 2010.

Now, it appears as if Spring-Ford and Boyertown, the only other unbeaten teams in the league, will battle for supremacy. The teams meet later this month. About midway through the match, several Boyertown wrestlers walked into the gym and glanced at the scoreboard.

This one may have been over already, but the season has a long way to go.
