MOBILE, Ala. - It's difficult for DaQuan Jones to get lost in a crowd.

But the Penn State defensive tackle said he did just that during the first day of Senior Bowl practices with the North squad.

"I started out kind of slow on Monday learning a couple of new plays," Jones said after Wednesday's session. "But I think two days in I picked it up a little bit. I had a couple of bad plays today, but that's football."

The 6-foot-3, 323-pound Jones had a strong senior season after playing in Jordan Hill's shadow as a junior. He collected 11 1/2 tackles for loss and three sacks playing in the Nittany Lions' multipurpose scheme up front.

Although Jones said he was asked mostly to be a gap penetrator, NFL teams could project him as a nose tackle or two-gap defensive end in a 3-4.

"It doesn't really matter to me," Jones said. "I can play a 3-4 or a 4-3. A lot of teams are doing both, so I'm open to play both."

Jones lost 25 pounds before his senior season to improve his quickness. It appeared to pay off. He was selected as a first-team all-Big Ten defensive tackle and has a second- or third-round grade, according to two NFL scouts.

"I'm a penetrator," Jones said. "That's what we did at Penn State."
