Gallop down to the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology on Saturday to celebrate the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Horse, as part of World Culture Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Festivities will include performances by dance troupe MeiMei, an East vs. West Chinese music demonstration, the Pennsylvania Chinese Dance Club, the cappella group PennYo, and more. A drop-in calligraphy class will be offered from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and a language class from 12:30 to 2. Arts and crafts will be featured, including Year of the Horse crafts, painting, and paper cutting. Guests can also see Chinese and Buddhist art. Festivities culminate with the grand finale Lion Parade.


World Culture Day: Chinese New Year, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, 3260 South St. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, until 8 the first Wednesday of each month. Young Artists Concert at Abington Junior High

On Saturday, see young musicians from the area perform with the Old York Road Symphony for an evening concert at Abington Junior High School.

The youth competed last year for an opportunity to perform. Featured winners are violinist Daniel Kim, cellists Isaiah Kim and Samuel Walter, and clarinetist David Kim.

Hagley Science Saturday - Paper Airplanes

Try out airplane designs during this month's Science Saturday at Hagley Museum and Library. Guests can try out different designs and see which one will fly the farthest. Science Saturday is held every fourth Saturday of the month for families to experiment, create, and work together to solve science challenges.
