Center City law firm Saul Ewing L.L.P. said Friday that it had named Barry F. Levin, a partner in its Baltimore office, managing partner of the firm.

Levin has chaired the firm's business and finance department for three years. He replaces David Antzis, who is returning to the full-time practice of law, as the firm's chief executive.

Revenues from Saul Ewing's business and finance practice grew 17 percent during the time Levin chaired the group, the firm said in a statement.

"Barry is a strong and proven leader with a vision to grow Saul Ewing to meet the needs of our clients at the pace they are evolving," Antzis said.

In the statement, the 260-lawyer firm said Levin would be guiding growth and business development in its 11 offices throughout the Northeastern United States.

"The firm just finished another terrific year, and I am fortunate to take on this role at a time when we are operating in a very strong position in all of our markets," Levin said. "Our firm is very focused on continued growth, geographically and in our practices and industry-focused groups."

Levin graduated from Franklin and Marshall College and received his law degree from the University of Baltimore law school.

He lives in Baltimore with his wife and two sons.
