Plymouth Whitemarsh's team defense ended Norristown's title defense on Friday night.

The Colonials defeated the visiting Eagles, 56-44, to clinch their first Suburban One American regular-season boys' basketball title since 2011, with two games to play.

Plymouth Whitemarsh pulled away with a dominant defensive run that bridged the third and fourth quarters, during which it allowed just three points on 13 possessions.

Jimmy Murray scored 10 of his 19 points during a 21-7 third quarter for the Colonials, and Andre Mitchell also netted 19 points. Plymouth Whitemarsh (18-2, 12-0) forced 15 turnovers.

Norristown (11-7, 8-4) had won at least a share of the title each season since 2011.

SUBURBAN ONE AMERICAN

Cheltenham 60, Upper Moreland 53: Khalil White scored 15 and Tavis Frank nabbed five steals to propel the Panthers on the road.

Wissahickon 67, Upper Merion 52: Chris Vila paired 22 points with 10 rebounds for the visiting Trojans.

SUBURBAN ONE NATIONAL

Council Rock North 62, Bensalem 43: Chris Rowland piled up 15 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists and four steals for the hosts.

Pennsbury 81, Truman 50: Mekhi Bryant and Steve Ciotti both scored 16 points for the Falcons at home.

SUBURBAN ONE CONTINENTAL

Pennridge 49, Souderton 45: Zach Muredda netted a game-high 20 points and Dan Long scored 19 to rally the host Rams.

Central Bucks South 43, Central Bucks West 41: Bryce Dobisch (15 points) was the only player to reach double figures as the Titans ground out the road victory.

INTER-AC

Penn Charter 66, Haverford School 63: Colgate-bound Sean O'Brien poured in 21 points, including the 1,000th of his career on a three-pointer in the third quarter, as the Quakers rallied in East Falls. Demetrius Issac added 15 points, six rebounds, and eight assists for Penn Charter, which trailed by 31-18 at the break and closed the third with a 24-6 run.

Episcopal Academy 44, Springside Chestnut Hill 36: Chris McNeal scored a game-high 15 points for the visiting Churchmen.

CATHOLIC LEAGUE

Neumann-Goretti 80, Archbishop Ryan 45: Ja'Quan Newton poured in 30 points, Tony Toplyn had 13 rebounds and five blocks, and Vaughn Covington dished out eight assists to lead the host Saints.

Lansdale Catholic 59, Father Judge 49: Kyle Pavlik scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half, and went 5 for 6 from the free-throw line, as the host Crusaders broke open a two-point halftime lead.

Archbishop Carroll 64, Cardinal O'Hara 17: Ernest Aflakpui had nine points and four blocks for the visiting Patriots.

West Catholic 68, Bishop McDevitt 62: Josh Townsend scored eight of his 12 points in the fourth quarter, as the visiting Burrs pulled away. Bishop McDevitt's Tyrell Long racked up 33 points, 14 rebounds, and four assists.

Conwell-Egan 68, Bonner-Prendergast 54: Vinny Dalessandro scored 14 of his game-high 18 points in the second half and chipped in eight rebounds to lead the Eagles in Fairless Hills.

FRIENDS SCHOOLS QUARTERFINALS

Shipley 39, Germantown Friends 35: Shawn Harvey went 3 for 4 from the foul line in the final minute to help the host Gators close it out.

   Quamir Johnson scored five of Shipley's eight fourth-quarter points, Kevin Zwolak grabbed 10 rebounds, and Kiyon Hardy nabbed five steals.

CENTRAL LEAGUE

Upper Darby 42, Ridley 40: Torey Green scored all 11 of his points in the fourth period for the host Royals, who trailed by two at halftime.

Radnor 47, Springfield (Delco) 41: Nelson Blickman scored a game-high 15 for the host Red Raiders.

Harriton 59, Strath Haven 41: Tas Dixon (26 points) went 13 for 16 from the foul line to lead the visiting Rams.

Del-Val League

Chester 92, Chichester 45: Keyonte Watkins poured in a game-high 24 points, Tyrell Sturdivant paired 13 points with 12 rebounds, and Khaleeq Campbell had 13 points and 10 assists as the Clippers rolled at home.

BICENTENNIAL INDEPENDENCE

Holy Ghost Prep 55, Devon Prep 43: Matt England scored eight of his 15 points in the first quarter as the visiting Firebirds built a 21-11 lead.

NONLEAGUE

Washington 55, Valley Forge 44: Jerome Blume put up his third double-double of the season, with 13 points and 13 rebounds for the hosts.

Bishop Shanahan 61, Interboro 60: Doug Costin sank two free throws with 15 seconds remaining to win it for the hosts. Costin (all 10 of his points) and Dylan Alderman (14 of his 21) combined for 24 points after halftime to help the Eagles erase a 31-25 deficit.
