Fri. Pa. wrestling: Another crown for Judge

Two days after capturing its first Catholic League wrestling title, Father Judge rolled to its first District 12 Class AAA crown Friday night with a 43-17 win over visiting Northeast.

The win sends the Crusaders to next week's PIAA state team championships at the Giant Center in Hershey.

Joe Galasso, a defending state champion bound for Cornell, recorded a pin at 145 pounds. Senior Vickson Krah added a fall at 152. Both came in the first period.

District 1. Eddie Kriczky grabbed a first-period pin at 145 pounds, and top-seeded Boyertown won five straight weight classes to topple No. 5 Council Rock South, 41-20, in the semifinals of the Class AAA duals tournament.

Hunter Vogels followed with a decision at 152 pounds, Gregg Harvey won by injury default at 160, Cody Richmond scored a technical fall at 170, and William Scholl capped the streak with a pin at 182.

In the other semifinal:

Spring-Ford captured the last three weight classes to pull away from Downingtown East, 36-19.

Jimmy Frank scored a pin at 106 pounds, Ryan Hayes captured a fall at 113, and Hunter Mitch scored a decision at 120. Adam Dombrosky added a pin at 138, and Mason Romano pinned at 220.

Spring-Ford and Boyertown will meet at 4 p.m. Saturday at Upper Dublin for the district title. The top four teams from District 1 advance to next week's state tournament.

In the quarterfinals:

Garrett Mauger's first-period pin at 120 pounds triggered Boyertown to five straight wins, and the Bears cruised past Quakertown, 55-6.

Spring-Ford lost just once between 132 and 285 pounds to take down Pennridge, 40-18. Nick Beauchamp won by a major decision at 132, and heavyweight Joshua Boyer scored a 3-2 win nine bouts later.

Riley Palmer scored a major decision at 106 pounds, and Council Rock South topped Garnet Valley, 28-27, on a tiebreaker. The Golden Hawks earned the tiebreaker by winning two more individual bouts.

Adam Pleines scored a first-period pin at 195 pounds and Billy McGinley followed with a 3-1 decision at 220 pounds as Downingtown East downed Methacton, 36-17.

Central. Tommy Long scored a pin at 152 pounds, and Marple Newtown cruised past visiting Lower Merion, 54-25. Niko Akranis (160 pounds), Kevin Goff (170), and Bradley Busch (182) followed with pins.
