Firefighters discovered a methamphetamine lab while responding to a blaze Sunday in Burlington Township, leading to the arrest of two people.

The fire occurred about 1:30 a.m. on Bodine Avenue.

Authorities found an illegal assault firearm, two high-capacity magazines, a "dagger-style" knife, and chemicals used for meth inside, the Burlington Township Police Department said.

Mark C. Payne, 29, of Burlington, and Erika Greenberg, 23, of East Windsor, were inside during the fire, police said. They had minor injuries and were treated at Lourdes Medical Center.

Payne, who police said lives upstairs, faces 10 charges, including operating a methamphetamine laboratory, risking widespread injury, and unlawful possession of an assault firearm.

He is being held at the Burlington County Jail on $250,000 bail.

Greenberg faces five charges, including operating a methamphetamine laboratory and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Greenberg is at the county jail with bail set at $100,000.
