Posted: February 13, 2014

Conestoga fell in Tuesday night's Central League final, but the Pioneers found out soon after that they will be the top seed in the District 1 Class AAAA boys' basketball tournament.

Conestoga will open the 32-team tournament at 7 p.m. Friday against visiting Norristown. Lower Merion, the Central League champ and defending state titlist, is seeded ninth and will host No. 25 Penn Wood in the first round.

The seedings were drawn from a power-points system based on regular-season results.

Chester, last year's district champion, earned the second seed. The Clippers will host No. 31 West Chester Henderson.

Great Valley earned the No. 3 seed and will host Wissahickon. The Patriots will play Wednesday night for the Ches-Mont League championship and have won eight straight games.

In Class AAA, Holy Ghost Prep earned the No. 1 seed and will host Sun Valley, the eighth seed, Saturday.

The Firebirds will open the Bicentennial League playoffs on Wednesday. They have won their last four games.
