BASKETBALL

DISTRICT 1 CLASS AAAA QUARTERFINALS

Conestoga 68, Lower Merion 60: Daryl Caldwell drained a three at the third-quarter buzzer to put Conestoga up a point, and the Pioneers never looked back, pulling away for a home win against Lower Merion.

   Dan Vila scored 12 of his 14 points in the first half, helping top-seeded Conestoga enter halftime with the lead.

   Terrell Jones led ninth-seeded Lower Merion, the defending Class AAAA state champion, with 15 points.

Chester 63, Abington 51: Tyrell Sturdivant scored eight of his 23 points in the third quarter and grabbed 10 rebounds to help second-seeded Chester top the seventh seed, Abington. Brewster Ward had 10 rebounds and three blocks off the Clippers bench.

West Chester Rustin 48, Central Bucks West 40: Ethan Ridgeway scored nine of his 20 points in a third quarter in which Rustin, the 14th seed, outscored 22d-seeded Central Bucks West, 17-6.

DISTRICT 1 CLASS AAAA PLAYBACKS

Wissahickon 52, Plymouth Whitemarsh 47: After losing two games against PW in the regular season, visiting Wissahickon finally knocked off the Colonials. Chase Wilson (five) and Chris Carradorini (three) combined to drill eight threes. Wilson scored 24 points, and Carradorini had 15.

Oxford 58, Harriton 55: Jordan Logan knocked down three shots from beyond the arc and had 11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter to help visiting Oxford edge Harriton.

Methacton 42, Penn Wood 41: Zach Jenkins led visiting Methacton with 14 points.

Haverford High 59, Souderton 52: Tom Liebig had 21 points and eight rebounds to lead the Fords to the road win.

DISTRICT 1 CLASS A QUARTERFINALS

Church Farm 60, Calvary Baptist 20: Top-seeded Church Farm received 17 points from Joey Shelton in the home win against eighth-seeded Calvary Baptist.

Jenkintown 38, Girard College 30: Ethan Goldman made four free throws in the fourth quarter to help third-seeded Jenkintown beat the sixth seed. Goldman had nine points and nine boards.

PA. INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS SEMIFINAL

Westtown 73, Kiski Prep 57: Georgios Papagiannis led top-seeded Westtown with 23 points in the win against the fifth seed.

SWIMMING

EASTERN INTERSCHOLASTIC

Episcopal Academy diver Josh Owsiany set a meet record when he recorded 573.85 points at the 114th Eastern Interscholastic championships at La Salle University. The previous record was 568.55.

   In other competition, Billy Beard of Malvern Prep won the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 40.09 seconds.
