Sat. Pa. girls and boys: N-G, Wood capture district crowns

Neumann-Goretti and Archbishop Wood will head into the PIAA tournament on good notes after cruising Saturday to District 12 girls' basketball titles.

Neumann-Goretti, ranked No. 1 in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer, used 21 points from Ciani Cryor to drop Imhotep Charter, 79-34, in the Class AA final at St. Joseph's Prep. The junior guard added 13 steals and seven assists. Alisha Kebbe scored all 12 of her points in the fourth.

Bailey Greenberg scored 16 points to earn MVP honors in Archbishop Wood's 66-37 win over Mastery Charter North in the AAA final at St. Joseph's Prep. Laura Trisch and Jess Kaminski each had six assists.

In the Class AAAA third-place game, Mia Farmer's 16 points led Cardinal O'Hara past Central, 55-24, also at the Prep.

District 1 Class AAAA. Alex Louin had 27 points and 15 rebounds to lead Mount St. Joseph past West Chester Rustin, 60-48, at Plymouth Whitemarsh in the third-place game.

Boys' Basketball

Nick Stanek scored 31 points and grabbed nine rebounds, powering Spring-Ford past visiting Central Bucks West, 65-51, in the District 1 Class AAAA seventh-place game. Drew Kakareka added three assists, and Cameron Phillips had five rebounds.


St. Joseph's Prep finished third overall at the Greenhead Sprints indoor rowing regatta in Brigantine, N.J. The teams raced 2,000 meters on rowing machines.

Andrew Grubel finished second in 6 minutes, 25 seconds, and Kevin Kiernan came in third at 6:25.9.
