Mary Bonhage McGovern, 95, of Gloucester City, a secretary at St. Joseph's Preparatory School in Philadelphia in the 1970s and 1980s, died on Sunday, March 9, at the Deptford home of a relative.

Born in Kensington, Mrs. McGovern graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School in 1936.

For a while, she worked at Campbell Soup Co. in Camden.

At St. Joseph's, where a relative was an administrator, Mrs. McGovern "worked in one of the offices for donations," daughter Kathleen Reed said.

"For at least 10 years, she worked steadily," Reed said, but after being injured in a fall, she worked part-time.

Mrs. McGovern was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Legion of Mary.

When her daughters Bernadette and Ellen were in the drum and bugle corps at Gloucester Catholic High School, Reed said, Mrs. McGovern was a chaperone on out-of-town trips.

Besides her daughter Kathleen Reed, Mrs. McGovern is survived by sons Vincent J. and John, daughter Bernadette Moore, a sister, 21 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent D., and children Maryanne Petroski, Robert F. McGovern, and Ellen C. Horgan.

A viewing was set from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 13, at the McCann-Healey Funeral Home, 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City, before an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City, N.J. 08030, with interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr.
