Pa. Boys: Sat. Pa. boys: Constitution moves on

Kimar Williams made 13 of 20 free throws and finished with 20 points to help Constitution beat Holy Cross, 72-62, in a PIAA Class AA state boys' basketball quarterfinal Saturday at William Allen.

Ahmad Gilbert added 15 points and Floyd Preito had 14 for the Generals.

Elmer L. Meyers 52, Del-Val Charter 50 (2OT): Shahid Adams was the only Del-Val Charter scorer in double digits, leading the Warriors with 20 points in a double-overtime loss at William Allen.

Constitution will play Elmer L. Meyers in the Class AA semifinals Tuesday at a time and location to be announced.

In a Class AAAA quarterfinal:

Chester 66, West Chester Rustin 36: Mahir Johnson led 11 Chester scorers with 14 points as the Clippers cruised at Plymouth Whitemarsh.

Tyrell Sturdivant also reached double figures for Chester, with 10 points. Keyonte Watkins posted nine for the Clippers.

Ethan Ridgeway led Rustin with nine points.

Chester will play La Salle in the semifinals at a time and place to be announced. La Salle beat Lower Merion, 71-48, Saturday.

Boys' Lacrosse

Kyle Anderson and Kevin McGeary each scored two goals to help Malvern Prep pull out an 8-5 nonleague win at Loyola Blakefield (Md.).

In other nonleague play, Shane McBride tallied three goals and Haverford School scored six unanswered goals in the second half for a 9-5 win at the Brunswick School (Conn.).

Don Aitken and Connor Keating each scored twice for the Fords.


Haverford School split a pair of home games against opponents from North Carolina.

In the first matchup, Nick Greco, Kevin McGowan, Mike Soloman, and Steve Scorajenghi each knocked in a pair of runs in an 18-12 loss to St. Paul's.

James McConnon delivered a walk-off single in the seventh inning in the second game, a 5-4 win against Bishop O'Connell.
