Wood girls advance

ARCHBISHOP Wood jumped out to an 18-4 lead after the first quarter, gaining control of the game en route to a 74-56 win over Holy Redeemer in the Class AAA girls state semifinals.

The Vikings will take on Blackhawk, which topped Palmyra, 49-41, for the state title on Saturday at 6 p.m. in the Giant Center at Hershey.

Leading the way for Wood were Aubree Brown with 19 points and Bailey Greenberg with 18. Also reaching double figures were Rachel Day and Jess Kaminski with 10 points each.

* In the Class AA semifinals, Neumann-Goretti had no problem with Dunmore, advancing to the state title game with an easy 55-30 win.

The Saints, who were up 21-10 at the half, were led by Tanesha Sutton's 16 points. Ciani Cryor added 13 and Ella Awobajo scored 10 for the Saints, who will face Seton-La Salle on Friday at 12 p.m., also at the Giant Center.
