Police summoned to remove volunteer at Chesco SPCA

Posted: March 27, 2014

For the second time in recent weeks police were called to the Chester County SPCA to remove a volunteer from the premises of the troubled agency.

Volunteer Leslie Celia was found in "violation of policy" and told she was no longer permitted at the shelter, according to the police report.

"As of yet, we have not received any information from the shelter, but we will be looking into it," said Stephen Bazil, board member. Ashley Dec, Shelter Operations Manager did not return calls for comment.

"They told me they had multiple complaints about my being disrespectful to the staff, which didn't happen," said Celia, who had been volunteering at the shelter for three years.

In February, former executive director Emily Simmons called West Goshen police to remove two board members and two volunteers from the property, police said. Last week, Simmons resigned her post.
