Pa. Girls: Tues. Pa. girls: Radnor tips Conestoga

Emily Games scored three goals, and Radnor stormed out to a five-goal halftime lead and held on to defeat Conestoga, 10-8, Tuesday in Central League girls' lacrosse.

Sara Curley and Reilly Masterson tallied two goals apiece for the host Red Raiders. Masterson also had four draw controls and three ground balls and caused a turnover. Curley added three assists.

Maggie Friel led Conestoga with three goals.

In another Central League game, Haley Warden and Emily Matthewson each scored five goals in Garnet Valley's 18-17 victory at Harriton. Katie Melvin had a game-high eight goals for the Rams.

Inter-Ac. Host Notre Dame edged Baldwin, 16-15, behind six goals from Katie Schneider and four from Tori DiGiacobbe. Schneider also contributed four assists and controlled eight draws for the Irish, who trailed, 6-2, after 10 minutes. Ali Thaler put in a game-high seven goals for Baldwin.

Emily Van Blarcom scored five goals, Jennifer Stack added four, and Hanna Bogorowski collected three goals and five assists to send Germantown Academy to a 17-5 victory at Penn Charter.

Catholic Academies. St. Basil triumphed at Sacred Heart, 13-9, behind Maura Brownsey's six goals, Olivia Carter's hat trick, and Sara Hagstotz's 17 saves.

Kelly Pizzirani (four) and Alexa Paul (three) combined for seven goals, and Gwynedd Mercy emerged from a halftime tie to take a 9-7 win at Mount St. Joseph.

Megan Parsons and Lauren Dunn each had a hat trick as 13 Villa Maria players scored goals in a 19-3 home victory over Nazareth.

Catholic. Seven players - Meg Matey, Sam Swart, Avery Murphy, Margaret Filippelli, Abby Fox, Anna Murphy, and Alexis Bello - had two goals each, and host Archbishop Carroll rocked Archbishop Ryan, 19-5.

Friends Schools. Madison Tucker led seven Shipley goal-scorers with five tallies as the Gators downed visiting Abington Friends, 15-3. Emily Talluto (three) and Christina Piasecki and Avery Yecies (two each) also had multiple goals for Shipley.

Nonleague. Hat tricks by Chanel D'Angello, Bailey Jaronski, and Caroline Rarley sparked New Hope-Solebury to a 13-1 win at Solebury School.

Tenee Pina and Laporsha Nixon each deposited five goals for Girls High in a 16-2 rout at Penn Wood.

Softball

Sophomore Maggie Balint struck out 15 in a two-hitter, powering Avon Grove to a 1-0 victory at Downingtown East in a Ches-Mont League National Division game.

Friends Schools. Sophomore righthander Carolyn Spellacy struck out seven over four innings, lifting Friends' Central to an 8-1 triumph over Academy of the New Church. Caroline Fakharzadeh, another sophomore, went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Phoenix.

Public League. Junior shortstop Donnie Griffin went 2 for 3 and knocked in four runs, helping Freire Charter to a 19-3 victory over visiting West Philadelphia in a Bronze Division game.
