Coatesville woman wreaks havoc during hit-and-run spree

A 24-year-old woman went on a hit-and-run spree in her SUV during which she struck a woman and damaged six parked cars, a house, two fences, and a PECO utility pole in Coatesville shortly before midnight Tuesday.

No one was seriously injured. The driver of the Ford Explorer, Kristin Jones of Coatesville, appeared to have been drinking, police said.

Police will press charges against Jones soon, after they get the results of her blood work, the Coatesville Police Department said Wednesday afternoon.

The series of accidents started on Charles Street when a woman saw Jones hit a 2004 Honda Pilot, which slid into a ditch, police said. The woman told Jones to stay while she called police. Jones then fled, running over the woman's foot. The woman refused medical treatment.

Jones then hit a 1987 Dodge pickup truck and a 2005 Hyundai parked on West 6th Avenue, police said. She then clipped a fence as she tried to turn onto Valley Road.

While still on West 6th Avenue, Jones hit the back of a house, demolishing a vestibule, police said. She then hit another fence as she left that scene.

Police said Jones then continued on and hit a Peco Energy Co. pole near the intersection of Valley Road and Strode Avenue, causing minor damage. She continued on to West Lincoln Highway and hit a 1997 Honda Accord parked on the north side of the highway, which was then pushed into a 1997 Audi.

Jones then careened across the highway and hit a BMW 530i parked on the south side of the road, where the vehicle came to rest.

Officers found Jones unconscious behind the wheel and revived her before she was taken away in an ambulance for evaluation.

Jones' SUV and the 1997 Honda Accord were the only two vehicles that had to be towed from the scene, police said.
