The count was two strikes and no balls. But Zach Kurtz, a senior leftfielder for Penn Charter, did not worry about taking a defensive swing.

Kurtz saw a fastball he liked and yanked it over the left-field fence for a two-run homer to score the go-ahead runs in the seventh inning of a 5-4 win at Haverford School.

It was the first home run of the season for Kurtz, and it delivered the first Inter-Ac League victory for coach Dave Miller.

PJ Pagan also hit a home run for Penn Charter. Zach Wielgus earned the win.


Episcopal Academy 4, Germantown Academy 3: Austin Morgan singled home Alex Burman for the walk-off win in the seventh.


Archbishop Ryan 7, Father Judge 6: Tyler DiMatteo's RBI single in the sixth inning lifted the hosts. Matthew Wilson drove in the tying run.


Lansdale Catholic 13, Bishop McDevitt 0: Matt Kress lost a no-hit bid with one out in the fifth inning. He finished with a one-hitter, striking out six and walking none, for the visitors. Josh Lafferty allowed three hits in 52/3 innings.


Radnor 9, Springfield (D) 6: Justin DeCarlo threw three shutout innings to earn his second save. Sean Corelli, John Lord, and Terrence Quinn each had two hits for the hosts.

Marple Newtown 4, Harriton 0: Grant Wallace threw a two-hit shutout to give the visitors their first league loss.

Conestoga 9, Haverford 3: Tom Richter, Austin Shirley, and Sam Regan each had two hits for the hosts.


Friends' Central 7, Shipley 5: Jonas Snyder hit a two-out, two-run double down the left-field line in the bottom of the fifth to drive in Joey LaWall and Hayden Gruber.


Pope John Paul II 7, Boyertown 0: Luke DeLeo had a three-run single, walked twice, and scored two runs for the visitors. Kyle Miller went 2 for 4 with an RBI.


Bodine 1, Mariana Bracetti 0: Junior righthander Nick Camissa struck out 17 for the hosts. He allowed four hits and walked one. Joey Nicoletti doubled home the only run in the first inning.


MaST Charter 13, Plumstead Christian 0: Ryan Conner threw the first perfect game in school history. He struck out 13 in six innings. Joe Zingo went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Kalen Mundy went 2 for 4 with three RBIs, including a two-run double.

Springfield (M) 9, Lower Moreland 8: DeAndre Johnson led off the bottom of the seventh with a drag-bunt single. He stole second and moved to third on an errant throw. Jeff Hammons drove him home for the winning run on a single up the middle.


Shipley 17, Moorestown Friends 11: Ian Walsh made 17 saves for the visitors. Frank Campanale scored six goals.


Owen J. Roberts 13, Pope John Paul II 6: Austin Delgatto scored five goals and Sam Garges and Alex Beitel each had two to pace the visitors.



Wissahickon sophomore Ben Wolfe captured the conference singles championship. After dropping the first set, he rallied to beat Upper Dublin's Bryan Szayne, 0-6, 6-4, 6-4. Wissahickon players have won the singles crown the last five seasons.
