Frank Myers, 66, of Woodbury Heights, and his companion, Betty Jane Marcum Smith, 76, of Woodbury, died in a car crash in Upper Pittsgrove Township on Sunday, May 4.

Mr. Myers was driving the car, in which Mrs. Smith was his passenger, when his vehicle and another collided at Routes 611 and 677. There have been no arrests, a spokeswoman for the New Jersey State Police said.

Mr. Myers graduated in 1966 from Gloucester City High School, earned a bachelor's degree in accounting at Drexel University, and became a certified public accountant.

He worked for the Moorestown CPA firm Woodworth & St. John, and for American Dredging Co. in Camden, before opening the Video Trading Post, a rental firm, in Woodbury in the 1980s, his son Brian said.

For the last 20 years, Mr. Myers was a consultant for Hudson International, an engineering and consulting firm in Wayne.

In the 2000s, the Phillies employed him as a project finance manager for the construction of Citizens Bank Park, his son said.

Mr. Myers then worked in a similar role for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the construction of the Convention Center addition in Philadelphia, he said.

A member of the Sketch Club Players of Woodbury for 40 years, he was its president for 11 years through 2013.

"In his 60s," his son said, "he went skydiving. He loved it."

And on weekends, 20- to 25-mile bicycle rides on country roads "were fairly common," he said.

Mrs. Smith was born in Salyersville, Magoffin County, Ky., graduated from Gulf Park High School in Gulfport, Miss., and earned a bachelor's degree in education at the University of Kentucky, her cousin Milton Marcum said.

After a career of more than 30 years, teaching elementary grades in the Pitman School District, she retired in the 1990s, he said.

"She was like a little sister," said Marcum, who now lives in St. James City, Fla., and he and she "spent at least a month together every year."

She was a volunteer at the Sketch Club Players.

Besides her cousin, Mrs. Smith is survived by stepson Christopher Smith, five grandchildren, and her former husband, Carl.

Besides his son Brian, Mr. Myers is survived by daughter Irene Rochelle, six grandchildren, and his former wife, Kathleen Brown.

For both Mr. Myers and Mrs. Smith, a visitation was set from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 10, at the Healey Funeral Home, 9 White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights, before a noon life celebration there.
