Pa. Girls: Pa. Girls: Swenson's Collopy wins rematch vs. Prep Charter

Swenson's Alexis Collopy didn't have to wait long to avenge her loss to Prep Charter.

Six days after the Huskies topped the Lions, Collopy took the mound again in a Public League softball playoff game at Prep Charter on Wednesday afternoon.

The junior scattered six hits and struck out nine to power Swenson to a 3-2 win. Collopy sits at 115 strikeouts on the season, marking the third time she reached the 100-strikeout milestone.

In other playoff action:

Ariel Dranoff went 3 for 3, scored four runs and knocked in three to lead host Central over Mariana Bracetti, 16-1.

Frankford's Moriah Cedeno smashed a three-run homer in the fourth inning to help the host Pioneers past Olney, 11-1. Cedeno went 4 for 4 with four RBIs and scored two runs. Rhonda Bynum surrendered four hits and struck out three.

Laura Smith threw a four-hitter while striking at seven and allowing two walks as Franklin Towne Charter routed visiting Kensington, 17-2. Valentina Scalici went 4 for 4 and clubbed a home run in the second inning en route to four RBIs.

Girls High scored in each inning to ease past visiting Bodine, 14-1. Madeline Sermarini doubled twice and drove in three runs to lead the winners. Sierra Velazquez tripled and also earned the win.

Megan Fekete and Stephanie Braun doubled to power host Northeast over Lincoln, 13-8.

Philadelphia Academy Charter blanked visiting Saul, 16-0. Riley Walker fanned six in three innings of work while Macey Smith went 3 for 3 and belted an RBI double in the first.

Inter-Ac. Sam O'Keefe drove in the winning run to lift host Baldwin over Agnes Irwin, 2-0.

Track and Field

Springside Chestnut Hill's Brooklyn Broadwater left her mark on the Pa. Independent Schools Championship at The Hill School.

The sophomore won four races to pace all runners. She finished the 100-meter dash in 12.63 seconds to edge teammate Julia Reeves, who crossed the line at 12.81.

Broadwater also topped the field in the 100-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash.
