Kanye, Kings of Leon top Made in America lineup

Posted: May 23, 2014

HIP-HOP ICON Kanye West and new-age rock outfit Kings of Leon will head this year's Budweiser Made in America festival on Ben Franklin Parkway.

For the first time, the Jay Z-curated festival will take place simultaneously in Philadelphia and Los Angeles on Aug. 30-31, Labor Day weekend.

Tickets for the Philly side are $117 for a two-day general-admission pass, while the VIP experience will cost $526.30.

The lineup here mirrors electronic dance music's newfound mainstream popularity with artists like Tiesto, Steve Aoki, R3HAB and Girl Talk. It also supports Philly's love for hip-hop and R&B with West, Pharrell Williams, J. Cole, Danny Brown and old-school pillars De La Soul.

City and Colour and the National will please fans of alternative indie-rock and help to round out a lineup featuring many genres.

Last year, 80,000 fans flocked to Philly for the festival, doubling the attendance from the inaugural Made in America in 2012.

John Mayer, Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons will headline Made in America's West Coast debut. The California lineup will be balanced by Weezer, Chance the Rapper, Juanes, Afrojack, Rise Against and Schoolboy Q, among many others.

Oddly enough, Philadelphia favorite Dr. Dog is part of the L.A. lineup.

Five artists will play at both festivals: Steve Aoki, R3HAB, Gareth Emery, YG and Cut Snake.
