Agent: Providence's Cotton will work out for Sixers

Posted: June 06, 2014

FORMER Providence guard Bryce Cotton will work out for the Sixers on June 13, his agent, Harold B. Woolfalk, confirmed yesterday.

The Sixers have seven draft picks in this year's NBA draft, June 26 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn: Nos. 3 and 10 in the first round and Nos. 32, 39, 47, 52 and 54 in the second round.

Cotton is considered a late second-round pick or an undrafted free agent.

"He has been described as having very well-developed point guard skills for someone who played the position only his last year in college," Woolfalk said. "He has held his own with bigger guards defensively and has used speed, quickness and athleticism to counterbalance size differentials."

The 6-1, 165-pound guard from Tucson, Ariz., averaged 21.8 points, 5.9 assists and 3.5 rebounds his senior season. Cotton was the second-leading scorer in the Big East Conference, behind All-America Doug McDermott, of Creighton. Cotton was a two-time All-Big East first-team selection, the 2013 conference scoring champion and led his Friars to a Big East Tournament championship in March and was named the tournament MVP.

"One team informant gives him a 10-year career in the league," Woolfalk said. "Another has said that he will be drafted."
