Malvern Prep QB picks Pitt

Posted: June 09, 2014

Malvern Prep's Alex Hornibrook, a strong-armed junior quarterback, committed Saturday to Pittsburgh.

Hornibrook visited the school Friday and Saturday with his parents, and threw during one of the team's camp sessions.

"Everything just felt right," he said. "The campus is amazing, my interaction with the coaches was great, and it's somewhere I could easily see myself playing."

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound lefthander chose Pitt over Connecticut and Rutgers. He is excited about the Panthers' renewing their heated rivalry with Penn State beginning in 2016.

As a first-year starter last season, Hornibrook threw for 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns in leading the Friars to an 8-2 overall record and, with a 4-1 mark, a share of the Inter-Ac League title.

The 17-year-old from West Chester also had scholarship offers from Akron and several Patriot League schools, including Lafayette.
